Isaiah Chapter 31:1-3
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!
Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
What happens when you trust in man instead of trusting the Lord? Isaiah Chapter 31 gives us a warning about what happens when you trust in man or other things for your deliverance. In this example the children of Israel were putting their faith in the Egyptians to save them from the Assyrians. They were planning to call on the Egyptians because they trusted in the Egyptians military might. They had all of the horses and chariots. They had a large army of men that were highly trained from the time they were born. They failed to realize that the arm of flesh will fail you, but God never will.
When you think these things will save you, stop and realize that soldiers are just flesh. Horses are just flesh. Chariots are just objects. The power of God was missing in the Israelites plan, because the Egyptians did not believe in God. When the rubber meets the road, you want to make darn sure that God is the one that you have called on. You want to make sure that you are listening for his leadership as you walk through the challenges that we all face in this life.
God is all powerful, all knowing, and always there. He is the one to put your trust in.
When you are looking for answers, don’t by pass God.
